Bringing people together in Pershore
Upcoming events at Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre
In communities across the UK, social isolation and loneliness continue to affect people of all ages, especially older residents, carers and those living in rural areas. That’s where Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre makes a real difference.
Based in the heart of Pershore, the charity has been supporting local people since 1984. We offer volunteering opportunities, community transport, befriending services and a wide range of social events designed to help people stay connected.
One of the most valuable parts of the centre’s work is our busy calendar of community events. From lunch clubs and craft sessions to day trips and seasonal outings, these activities give people the chance to socialise, build friendships and enjoy new experiences in a welcoming environment.
Friendly lunch clubs
The centre regularly hosts fortnightly lunch clubs at St Andrew’s Hall in Pershore, alongside a monthly lunch gathering at The Angel Hotel. These events provide more than just delicious meals - they offer companionship, conversation and an important opportunity for people to spend time with others in the community.
Freshly prepared meals are served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, helping participants to feel part of something special. For many local residents, these lunch clubs are not just a highlight of their week but their month, and an important way to maintain social connections.
Creative and community activities
Alongside the lunch clubs, Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre also runs regular craft groups and community gatherings. These sessions encourage creativity while providing a relaxed environment where people can chat, share hobbies and meet new friends.
The centre also supports wider wellbeing initiatives and awareness events throughout the year, including dementia awareness activities and community wellbeing festivals.
Day trips and seasonal events
One of the most popular parts of the events programme is the organised day trips.
Throughout the year, we arrange outings to garden centres, seaside destinations, Christmas markets and local attractions such as the Black Country Living Museum, which is just one of the upcoming day trips available this Summer. These trips give people the opportunity to get out and about, enjoy a change of scenery and experience new places with the support of friendly volunteers.
Past events have included trips to Bath Christmas Market, Birmingham Christmas Market, Dobbies Garden Centre and visits linked to local festivals and entertainment.
For many attendees, these outings are far more than just a day away from home - they help boost confidence, independence and overall wellbeing.
Supporting the local community
The work of Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre is powered by volunteers who give their time to help others. From volunteer drivers supporting community transport, to those helping at events and lunch clubs, the organisation relies on local people working together to reduce isolation and strengthen community spirit.
Our events programme reflects our wider mission to create opportunities for people to connect, feel supported and remain active members of the community.
